Wundenberg’s is a two-studio recording complex located in Adelaide, South Australia. Our studios offer a homely atmosphere with well maintained equipment and a fast effective workflow, to help capture great sounds whilst keeping up with an artist’s creativity.
Our studios are hidden away in the heritage listed Thebarton Incinerator, 5 minutes from Adelaide’s CBD. This distinctive building was designed by American architect Walter Burley Griffin in the 1930s and has been repurposed to function as a recording facility. Burley Griffin is famous for planning and designing the city of Canberra.
The building’s thick brick walls and high internal ceilings have created ideal recording conditions.
We also have 3 purpose built rehearsal rooms onsite.
Who Can Record Here?
Anyone! Over 85 artists a year use our studios and they all vary greatly in experience (50% of these artists are return customers). We record/mix everyone and everything from international touring artists to people who have never performed outside of their bedroom before.
No project is too big or small. We work with artists from all walks of life and genres of music. We are incredibly passionate about recording and love helping artists reach their creative goal.
We also provide services for film, commercial radio, TV, podcasts, audiobooks and anything else that needs sound professionally recorded or mixed.
Best of Both Worlds
Our main studio (Studio 1) uses a hybrid setup, combining the tonal characteristics of analogue equipment with the flexibility and ease of digital recording technology.
At the heart of Studio 1 is a 1980s AMS Neve V-Series Sidecar. This desk began its life at the BBC and was then purchased by Australian musician Billy Thorpe for his home studio. This desk provides silky harmonics and great ‘warmth’ to all sound which passes through it. We also have an outboard gear list made up of many classics such as the Neve 33609, LA-2A, 1176, 737 SP etc. The studio has a total of 49 high quality preamps available. For a comprehensive overview please view our gear list page.
We record using a Pro Tools HD system with up to 32 inputs and outputs using high quality audio converters.
We have a mic locker full of industry standard microphones. We currently have over 50 microphones and our collection is constantly growing. Some highlights include;
- Matched pair of Coles 4038
- Matched pair of Royer 121
- Matched pair of AKG C414 XLS

Control Your Own Headphone Mixes
Our Hear Back System in Studio 1 allows for artists to control their own headphone mixes and to adjust things on the fly whilst tracking. It’s a very simple system to use, which allows artists to dial in the perfect mix, so they can perform at their best.
Combined with this system are Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones, due to their high ambient noise attenuation, accurate sound reproduction and comfortable fit. Feel free to bring your own headphones or in-ear monitors though!
Our Home Is Your Home
Our studios provide a unique, relaxed and comfortable space, allowing artists to perform at their absolute best in complete privacy.
Artists spend a lot of time in the studio, so we have some of the basic things that you need to keep energised and productive;
- Kitchen area with coffee machine, fridge and microwave
- Free All Day Parking
- Flexible Work Hours
- Private Outdoor Area
- 2 Vending Machines
The studio is also conveniently located within a 5 minute walk to various bakeries, cafes, pubs and a supermarket.
