We've finally got our hands on a Hughes AK-100 Sound Retrieval System (used extensively by Tchad Blake and Kevin Killen). This unit was the only commercial audio product ever produced by Hughes Aircraft Electronics Devision. The AK-100 was sold in the late 80s and is used to create an immersive 3D sound field using only two speakers, through a process known as 'head-related transfer functions'. This device can be used to help mixes feel wider and as though they have greater spacial depth. Keep an ear out for some mixes that we're using it on 😏.
